As a Colorado wedding photographer, I always tell my couples that the venue sets the tone for the entire day, and Woodlands Colorado Wedding Venue is exactly what comes to mind when I picture a modern mountain wedding just minutes from Denver. It’s perfect for couples who want the beauty of the foothills without asking their guests to drive two hours into the mountains. This crisp white barn with black trim will wow your guests and give you a gallery full of images you will treasure forever.

Woodlands is tucked into the foothills of Morison, Colorado, just 30 minutes from downtown Denver and a short drive from Denver International Airport. It sits close to the famous Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater, so if any of your guests want to extend the celebration into a weekend getaway, they will have plenty to explore. This location makes Woodlands one of the easiest mountain venues to get to in the entire state, which is a huge relief for couples with guests flying in from out of town.

The Property

Woodlands Colorado wedding venue sits on 52 acres in the Morrison foothills, giving you and your photographer plenty of room to roam for portraits without ever leaving the property. The barn itself is bright white with black trim, and the inside continues that same clean, modern palette with white-washed wood walls and black accents that photograph beautifully in any light. Two massive sliding barn doors open at either end of the space, and when they’re pulled back for your ceremony, you get an unobstructed view of the pine covered hills.

I love a venue where the architecture adds to the beauty in your final gallery, and Woodlands does exactly that. The tall ceilings and string lights inside the barn give you a romantic, warm reception space once the sun goes down, while the outdoor ceremony lawn gives you that classive Colorado backdrop everyone dreams of.

Getting There

Woodlands is located at 8884 US Hwy 285 in Morrison, Colorado, just 30 minutes from downtown Denver and close to Denver International Airport, making it an easy option for guests traveling in from out of state. The town of Morrison also sits right next to Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater, so out of town guests can easily turn your wedding weekend into a mini Colorado getaway.

Ceremony and Reception Spaces

The outdoor ceremony lawn sits just behind the barn, ramed by rolling hills and pine trees, and the main barn doors open right up to it, so your first walk down the aisle happens just steps from where cocktail hour will take place. For cooler months or unpredictable Colorado weather, the fully covered and heated side patio is a wonderfuls pot for cocktail hour rain or shine, which is one of my favorite details about this venue. Colorado weather can turn quickly, and having a covered, heated space built into the property gives you real peace of mind on your wedding day.

Getting Ready Suites

Woodlands includes separate getting ready suites for both sides of the wedding party, so everyone has their own comfortable space to relax and get ready before the day begins. Having on-site suites means less time in the car and more time soaking in the morning with your closes people, which always makes for some of my favorite candid images of the day.

How Many Guests Can Celebrate at Woodlands Colorado Wedding Venue?

Woodlands can comfortable host up to 200 guests, which makes it a wonderful fit for both intimate gatherings and large celebrations. Most of the weddings hosted here land in the 120-150 guest range, giving the space an open, easy feeling, rather than a packed one. If you are planning a big Colorado celebration with family flying in from all over, Woodlands has the room for it, and if you’re picturing smaller and more intimate, the property flexes just as easily.

How Much Does A Wedding at Woodlands Wedding Venue Cost?

A wedding here can accommodate up to 200 guests and rental rates run between $7,000 and $11,000 depending on the season and day of the week. I always recommend inquiring directly with Woodlands for the most up to date information.

Flow of the Day

After your getting ready portion of the day, you may move into a first look with your soon to be spouse. This can happen in the lavender field, out on the lawn, or even in the tucked-away rocky space behind the barn!

Your guests will gather on the outside of the barn, passing through the cocktail hour space to the ceremony space. The ceremony may be held outdoors on the lawn, or indoors as a beautiful backup plan for weather. After the ceremony is complete, you will meet your bridal party inside of celebratory cheers, while your guests enjoy cocktail hour on the covered patio with the indoor-outdoor bar.

Everyone moves inside for the reception, but the barn doors can remain open so guests can enjoy the view and mingle outdoors.

The natural light pouring through the barn doors is soft and flattering, the outdoor ceremony site catches that golden Colorado glow in the late afternoon, and the 52 acres of surrounding foothills mean we are never short on beautiful backdrops for portraits. Whether you’re dreaming of a relaxed, rustic celebration or something a little more polished and modern, this venue adapts to your style rather than the other way around.

Woodlands offers in-house coordination with Tory, and I always recommend to couples to check her availability first before inquiring with anyone else. Tory’s knowledge of both the venue and evenet management is top-tier! If Tory is unavailable, I would recommending inquiring with Elysian Weddings or Hannah Kathryn Events.

For florals, I recommend Lilac and Sage; for catering, Biscuits and Berries and Mountain Crust are popular options; Peak Bev is the exclusive bar provider.
